ELIZABETHTOWN – Cole Butler and Isaiah Lee sparked East Bladen to an early 5-0 lead enroute to a 5-3 non-conference jayvee baseball victory over West Brunswick Thursday.

Butler batted 2-for-3 with a triple, 3 runs batted in and a run scored for the Eagles, while Lee was also 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored. Teammate Colton Daly cracked a run-scoring single, and Andrew Musselwhite and Braylon Cromartie added 1 hit each. Easton Bostic, Drew Sholar and Davion Lewis scored 1 run each for East.

Lewis pitched all 5 innings for the winners and allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, 2 walks and a hit batter.

Sholar was hit by a pitch to start the Eagle 1st inning and raced home when Butler smacked a single to left-center field. Lee walloped a triple to right field that scored Butler, and Daly yanked a single to right that scored Lee for a 3-0 lead.

Bostic drew a lead-off walk in the East 2nd inning. Lewis beat out an infield hit, and Butler blasted his triple to left-center field that plated Bostic and Lewis for a 5-0 lead.

The Trojans battled back with a run in the 4th and 2 runs in the 5th inning. Caden Coley batted 2-2 to lead the West hitters. Gage Hickman finished 2-for-3 at the plate, and Josiah Sneed slammed a double. Cooper Wilson started on the mound for the visitors.

Coach Kenzil McCall’s Eagles improved to 3-0 and will travel to West Brunswick for a rematch Friday.
