ELIZABETHTOWN – Sophmore Jake Evans pitched a complete game 3-hitter to lead East Bladen to a 6-2 Three Rivers Conference jayvee baseball victory over Red Springs Thursday.

Evans struck out five, walked three and allowed only 2 unearned runs.

Red Springs took an early 1-0 lead but the Eagles tied the game in the second inning. Xavier McKoy walloped a lead-off double, advanced on freshman Jacob Priest’s fielder’s choice and raced home on freshman Drew Sholar’s liner to rightfield.

Freshman Rasean McKoy led off the Eagle third with a single and raced home on Jay McKoy’s single. Jay McKoy advanced on a throwing error and darted home on Evans’ fielder’s choice to put East Bladen up 3-1.

Red Springs pulled to within 3-2 in the fifth inning, before East Bladen pulled away with 3 runs in the sixth. Jay McKoy walked and advanced on a balk before Evans knocked him in with a single.

Freshman Tyler Hill reached base on an error, and Xavier McKoy slammed a double that scored Evans and Hill to pad the lead to 6-2.

Xavier McKoy batted 2-3 with 2 doubles, 2 runs batted in and a run scored to lead the Eagle hitters. Priest finished with a 2-3 game at the plate. Jay McKoy, Evans and Rasean McKoy collected one hit each.

Evans drove in 2 runs and Sholar and Jay McKoy drove in one run each. Jay McKoy scored 2 runs, and Evans, Hill and Rasean McKoy scored one run each.

The Eagles improved to 9-1 with the victory and will travel to West Columbus Tuesday.
