BLADENBORO –Freshmen Cason McLaurin and Camden Wilson combined on a 5-hitter Friday as Midway defeated West Bladen 7-3 in Southeastern Athletic Conference jayvee baseball action.

McLaurin pitched 6 innings and allowed 3 runs on 5 hits and a walk while striking out 7. Wilson pitched a scoreless, hitless 7th inning striking out 1 and walking 1.

Jackson Campbell slammed a double, and Cale Jackson singled in the Raider 2nd inning. Both of them scored on an error. Jackson knocked in Wilson Mayo who had walked with a 4th inning single then scored on an error as the lead grew to 4-0.

Wilson was hit by a pitch and scored on Luke Peterson’s single in the Midway 5th inning.

The Knights rallied in the 5th inning as freshman Jonah Bryan cracked a single to center field. Sophomore Aiden Russ raked a single to left, and Bryan stole 3rd base then stole home. Aiden Russ stole a base, moved up on a wild pitch and scored on a balk.

Freshman Tyler Lewis walked, and freshman Hunter Hester knocked him in with a single that sliced the Raider lead to 5-3.

Midway tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the 7th. Wilson was hit by a pitch and eventually scored as Gehemiah Blue reached base on an error. Blue scored on Peterson’s fielder’s choice.

Bryan, Aiden Russ, sophomore Allister Russ, Lewis and Hester all contributed 1 hit each to the Knight attack. Bryan, Aiden Russ and Lewis scored runs, and Hester had an RBI.

Aiden Russ pitched the 1st 4 innings and allowed 4 runs – 1 earned – on 3 hits and a walk while striking out one. Allister Russ worked the final 3 innings in relief and allowed 3 runs – 1 earned – on 1 hit while striking out one.

Jackson batted 2-for-3 with an RBI and 2 runs scored to lead the Raiders. Campbell doubled and scored a run. Peterson singled and drove in 2 runs. Wilson scored 2 runs.

The Knight jayvees finished their season 3-5 in SAC-7 play and 5-7 overall.
