ELIZABETHTOWN – South Columbus defeated East Bladen 7-3 Friday in Three Rivers Conference jayvee baseball action.

The Stallions scored four runs in the first inning and one in the second to take a 5-0 lead.

Freddie Wooten reached base on an error in the Eagle third inning, stole second base, moved up on a passed ball and raced home on Jay McKoy’s sacrifice fly.

After South Columbus scored twice in the top of the fourth, Zach Meares hammered a double to start the Eagle fourth. Meares darted to third base on a passed ball and scored on Brady Hollingsworth’s fielder’s choice.

Jay McKoy slammed a one-out double in the Eagle fifth inning, moved up on Jake Evans’ fielder’s choice and dashed home on a passed ball.

Tyler Hill batted a perfect 2-2 to lead the East Bladen hitters. Jay McKoy and Meares smashed a double each, and Evans and Rasean McKoy connected for one hit each.

Grayson Clark started on the mound for the Eagles.

The Eagles, now 1-1, will travel to Red Springs Tuesday.
