Jalin Drew and Dalton Pait each drove in two runs and Trey Storms pitched a three-hitter Tuesday afternoon as the West Bladen junior varsity baseball team routed Heide Trask 11-1 at Knights Field.

The win improved West Bladen to 5-2 overall and 3-0 in the Four County Conference. The Knights are scheduled to host Pender on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Storms, a sophomore right-hander, struck out five, walked three and allowed an earned run in four innings on the mount.

The game was halted in the bottom of the fourth when Drew’s two-run single capped a four run inning that gave West Bladen a 10-run lead.

Dalton Pait, a freshman second baseman, had two run-scoring singles and scored twice for the Knights. Jonathan Robinson was 2-for-2 with a double, RBI and two runs scored. Ian Sykes and Cameron Peterson each had a hit. Brandon Strange and Jeremy Pait each scored two runs. Sykes, Storms and Peterson each drove in one run.

The Knights scored in every inning, getting one in the first, three in the second, three in the third and four in the fourth.

In the first, Strange drew a two-out walk and scored on Robinson’s blast to the fence in right field.

In the second, Shawn Oxendine was hit by a pitch and stole second. Drew was walked and the runners advanced on a wild pitch. Dalton Pait singled up the middle to score Oxendine. After an out, courtesy running Jeremy Pait scored on a wild pitch. Dalton Pait advanced to second on a wild pitch, moved to third on a fly out and scored on Sykes’ single.

In the third, Robinson singled and moved to third on a pair of wild ptches. After the next two batters were retired, Drew was walked for the second time. Courtesy runner Jeremy Pait stole second to put runners on second and third. Dalton Pait then singled down the left field line that scored Robinson. Jeremy Pait scored on a wild pitch and Dalton Pait advanced to third on the play. Dalton Pait then scored on Peterson’s single to left.

In the fourth, walks to Sykes, Strange, Robinson and Storms forced in a run. Oxendine was hit by a pitch for the second time that forced in a run. Drew then slapped his two-run single to end the game.
