West Bladen High School LogoBURGAW – Trey Storms pitched a two-hitter, and Ray Jones and Jonathan Robinson combined to drive in nine runs Monday afternoon as the West Bladen junior varsity baseball team routed Pender 15-2 in a Four County 1A/2A Conference game.

Storms struck out three and walked two in going the distance on the mound. The right-hander allowed a pair of first inning runs before shutting down the Patriots the rest of the way. The West Bladen defense turned in a solid performance, making only two errors.

Jones had a pair of doubles and drove in four runs. His bases-loaded double off the left field fence in the first inning scored three runs and came within a few feet of a grand slam. Robinson had two doubles and a single in four at-bats.

Donald McCullum and Storms each went 3-for-4. Colby Smith, Brandon Carson, Hunter Pait and Caleb Sholar each added a hit to West Bladen’s 15-hit attack.

Jones scored three runs for the Knights. Smith, McCullum, Pait, Sholar and Jonathan Nickel each scored twice. Jaquale Jessup and Robinson each scored once. Jonathan Ashworth and Storms each had a run batted in.

West Bladen scored five runs in the first inning, one in the second and three in the third in opening a 9-2 lead. The Knights put six runs on the board in the sixth inning.
