BLADENBORO – West Bladen and South Columbus battled to a 2-2 tie for 7 innings Tuesday in a Three Rivers Conference jayvee baseball game. Extra innings are not played in junior varsity contests.

After 4 scoreless innings, the Stallions struck first with a 5th inning run. Cole Edge drove in Cameron Ridgeway with a 2-out single. Ridgeway had reached base on an infield hit.

The Knights answered in the bottom of the inning as sophomores Jordan Underwood and Bryce Fuller drew 1-out walks. Underwood stole 3rd base and scooted home on freshman Nolan Tatum’s grounder. Fuller advanced on a wild pitch and dashed home when freshman Jordan Hester swatted a single to leftfield to put West up 2-1.

The Stallions tied the game in the 6th inning as Ethan Cullipher and Bo Kinlaw belted singles, and Cullipher scored the tying run on a balk.

Freshman Andre Moore batted 2-for-3 to lead the Knight hitters. Hester turned in a 2-for-4 game at the plate with a run batted in. Fuller and Underwood scored the West runs, and Tatum contributed an RBI.

Sophomore Garrison Carr pitched the 1st 4 scoreless innings for the Knights giving up no hits, 2 walks and striking out two. Hester relieved and pitched 2.1 innings and allowed 2 runs on 4 hits and a walk. Fuller pitched 0.2 innings of relief allowing no runs and no hits while striking out one.

Jared Caines pitched 5 innings for South and gave up 2 runs on 2 hits and 5 walks while striking out four. Cullipher relieved and pitched 2 scoreless innings allowing 2 hits and 2 walks.

Edge cracked the RBI single, and Cullipher, Ridgeway and Kinlaw added 1 hit each.

Coach Wade Pait’s Knights, now 2-3-1 in league play and 4-5-1 overall, will host East Bladen Friday.
