ST PAULS – West Bladen piled up 19 runs in the 3rd and 4th innings as the Knights posted a 21-0 Southeastern Athletic Conference jayvee baseball victory over St. Pauls Friday.
The Knights grabbed a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning. Cade Allen walked, and Brady Durden was hit by a pitch. Both runners advanced on an error. Allister Russ knocked in Allen with a single, advanced on Mason Jones’ single and darted home on a wild pitch.
Five walks and a Bulldog error began the Knight 3rd inning and plated 3 runs. Allister Russ ripped a triple to right field that scored 2 runs and padded the lead to 7-0. Jones cracked another single that scored Allister Russ.
Andre Moore and Garrett Dunham slammed back-to-back doubles as the lead grew to 11-0. Allen spanked a single, and Brady Durden ripped a double that pushed the lead to 12-0.
Chason Harris started the Knight 4th inning with a single. Six Knight batters were hit by pitches in the inning and another one walked. Brady Durden belted a single as the lead grew to 17-0. Harris raked a single to left that plated 2 runs, and Aiden Russ lined a double to left.
Freshmen Brady Durden, Dunham and Allen combined to pitch a 1-hit shutout. Brady Durden struck out 5 and walked 1 in his 2 hitless innings. Dunham struck out the side in the third and walked one. Allen allowed 1 hit and struck out a batter.
Allister Russ batted a perfect 2-for-2 with a triple, 3 runs batted in and 2 runs scored to lead the Knight hitters. Harris finished 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Jones was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored.
Brady Durden batted 2-for-2 with a double and 2 runs scored. Dunham doubled, scored 3 runs and had an RBI. Moore doubled, had an RBI and scored 2 runs. Aiden Russ doubled and scored 2 runs. Allen singled and scored 2 runs.
Hezekiah Blanks-Adams, Luke Pait, Matt Kemp, Will Durden and Kasey Nichols scored 1 run each for the Knights.
The Knight jayvees, now 3-2 in SAC-7 play and 5-2 overall, will host Midway Tuesday night.
