BLADENBORO – Freshmen Brady Durden and Garrett Dunham teamed up to pitch a 5-hitter as West Bladen rallied for a 3-2 Southeastern Athletic Conference jayvee baseball victory over Midway Tuesday.

Durden started and pitched 5.1 innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out four. Dunham relieved in the top of the 6th with the bases loaded and threw out Midway’s Wyatt Herring on an attempted steal of home. A walk reloaded the bases, but center fielder Hezekiah Blanks-Adams snagged Christian Lee’s line drive to end the game.

With Midway ahead 2-1, Blanks-Adams and sophomore Andre Moore drew walks to begin the Knight 3rd inning. Dunham ripped a single to left that loaded the bases. Freshman Cade Allen lifted a sacrifice fly to left that scored Blanks-Adams with the tying run. Will Durden walked to load the bases, and freshman Allister Russ walked to force home Moore with the go-ahead run.

Herring and Wyatt Richards cracked singles to start the game for Midway. Herring scored on a fielder’s choice and Richards scored on a sacrifice fly for a 2-0 lead.

Blanks-Adams, a freshman, smashed a single through the middle to start the Knight 1st inning then stole 2nd base. Dunham walked, and Blanks-Adams dashed to 3rd base on a wild pitch. Allen’s fielder’s choice brought home Blanks-Adams and trimmed the Midway lead to 2-1.

Blanks-Adams batted a perfect 2-for-2 with a walk and scored 2 runs. Moore walked and scored. Allen drove in 2 runs, and Allister Russ had a run batted in with the bases-loaded walk.

Wyatt Lucas and Richards split the pitching duties for Midway. Richards batted 2-for-3 with a run scored. Herring singled and scored. Lucas singled and drove in a run. Dale Martin added a single.

Coach Scott Bowen’s Knights improved to 4-2 in SAC-7 play and 6-2 overall. The two teams will play again Thursday at Midway.
