CLINTON – Clinton closed the game with a 16-6 run that rallied the Dark Horses to a 40-32 Four County Conference jayvee boys victory over East Bladen Wednesday night.

Sophomore Shy Pone drove for a pair of baskets and dropped in 2 free throws, and sophomore Pierce Melvin drained a 3-point shot as the Eagles played Clinton to a 10-10 deadlock. Center Robbie Cooley sank a free throw in the period.

Cooley and Jordan Robinson hit second period free throws for East, but Clinton opened up a 17-12 halftime lead.

The Eagles bounced back with a 14-7 third quarter surge to take a 26-24 lead. Anthony Wooten threw in a pair of baskets and 2 free throws to lead the East rally. Pone tossed in 2 more baskets, Keshaun Davis netted a basket and Tayshaun Berkely and Majuan McKoy hit free throws.

Berkely and Cooley worked inside for baskets in the final period, and Melvin added 2 free throws.

Pone topped the Eagle scoring with 10 points, and Wooten followed with 6 points. Melvin totaled 5 points in the game.

The Eagles are now 5-3 in the Four County and 10-5 overall.
