TABOR CITY – Allen Owens fired in a game-high 13 points to lead East Bladen to a 30-18 jayvee boys basketball victory over South Columbus Friday night.

Corey McKoy tossed in a basket and a free throw, and Charles Brown sank a free throw to keep the Eagles within 5-4 at the first quarter break.

Owens pumped in a 3-point shot and another basket to pull East Bladen into a 9-9 tie at halftime.

Tayshaun Berkeley sank a basket and 2 free throws to lead an 11-7 Eagle surge in the third period. Corey McKoy drained a 3-point shot, and Owens and Rashard Willis dropped in baskets as East Bladen built a 20-16 lead.

Owens connected on all 4 of his free throw attempts in the final quarter and added another basket as the Eagles closed the game with a 10-2 spurt. Kasey Price dropped in a basket, and Rasean McKoy and Orlando Murchison netted one free throw each.

Corey McKoy finished with 6 points for the winners, and Berkeley followed with 4 points.

The Eagle jayvees travel to rival West Bladen Tuesday for a 4:30 game.
