ELIZABETHTOWN – Sophmores Rasean McKoy and Zach Meares combined for 9 points in overtime as East Bladen defeated South Columbus 33-26 Friday night in Three Rivers Conference jayvee boys basketball action.
McKoy worked the paint for 2 baskets and a free throw in the extra period, and Meares bombed in a 3-point shot and hit a free throw. Charles Brown added a basket as the Eagles outscored the Stallions 11-4 in overtime.
McKoy topped the Eagle scoring with 13 points, and sophmore Jacob Priest followed with 8 points. Brown added 6 points.
A Priest basket, 2 Brown free throws and one free throw from McKoy kept the Eagles even 5-5 at the first quarter break. McKoy and Kari Price threw in baskets for East in the second period, but the Stallions forged an 11-9 halftime lead.
McKoy powered inside for 2 baskets and a free throw in the third period, and Priest cashed in 2 free throws, but South held a 19-16 lead.
Priest rallied the Eagles in the fourth quarter with a basket and 2 free throws, and Brown netted a basket as East Bladen tied the game 22-22 at the end of regulation.
Coach Aking Elting’s Eagles will host West Brunswick Monday at 2 p.m. in a non-conference game.
