RED SPRINGS – Sophmores Zach Meares and Rasean McKoy keyed a 13-2 third quarter spurt that rallied East Bladen to a 34-31 Three Rivers Conference jayvee boys basketball victory over Red Springs Friday night.
The Red Devils led 22-11 at halftime, but Meares bombed in a pair of 3-point shots, and McKoy drained a 3-point shot and another basket in the third period. Jacob Priest and Mahki Cromartie sank free throws as the Eagles tied the game 24-24.
McKoy powered inside for a basket and 2 free throws in the final period. Priest and Cromartie tossed in baskets, and Charles Brown made 2 free throws as the Eagles pulled out the win.
Meares led the Eagles with 11 points, and McKoy followed with 9 points. Priest totaled 8 points, and Cromartie added 4 points.
Priest pumped in 2 baskets in the opening quarter to keep the Eagles within 9-5 at the quarter break. Meares buried a 3-point shot and another basket in the second period.
Coach Aking Elting’s Eagles will host Fairmont Friday night.
