TEACHEY – East Bladen’s Eagles exploded for 19 points in the final quarter to pull out a 46-41 non-conference jayvee boys basketball victory over Wallace-Rose Hill Wednesday night.

Wallace-Rose Hill took a narrow 28-27 lead into the fourth period. Corey McKoy sparked the Eagle rally with 2 baskets and a free throw, and teammates Tayshaun Berkeley and Juwan Baldwin connected for 2 baskets each in the quarter.

Lefrederick Wooten drained a 3-point shot, and Rasean McKoy dropped in another basket as the Eagles secured the win.

Corey McKoy topped the Eagle scoring with 11 points, and Berkeley followed with 9 points. Wooten and Rashard Willis finished with 6 points each, and Baldwin and Rasean McKoy totaled 5 points each.

Rasean McKoy popped in a basket and a free throw in the first quarter, and Corey McKoy drilled in a 3-point shot. Allen Owens added a basket to keep East Bladen within 11-10 at the first quarter break.

Willis burnt the nets with a trio of second quarter baskets, and Berkeley netted two more baskets as the Eagles raced to a 20-14 halftime lead. Wooten and Corey McKoy bombed in 3-point shots in the third period, but a 14-7 Wallace run edged the Bulldogs ahead.

Coach Aking Elting’s Eagles will travel to South Columbus Friday night.

Tuesday night the Eagle jayvees lost a Three Rivers Conference decision at Whiteville. Corey McKoy led the Eagle scoring Tuesday with 11 points, and Berkeley followed with 7 points.
