ELIZABETHTOWN – Robbie Cooley and Tayshaun Berkely combined for 23 points to lead East Bladen jayvee boys to a 52-45 Four County Conference basketball victory over Heide Trask.
Cooley worked the paint for 3 baskets, and Berkely and Byron Bowen added a basket each in the first quarter. Berkely dropped in 2 more baskets in the second quarter and sophmore Shy Pone drained a 3-point shot.
Cooley pumped in 3 more baskets in the third quarter, and Berkely nailed a 3-point shot and another basket. Anthony Wooten pumped in 2 baskets and a free throw as the Eagles racked up 20 points in the quarter.
Sophmores Pierce Melvin and Keshaun Davis sank 3 free throws each in the final quarter to help keep the Eagles on top. Wooten and Bowen scored a basket each in the period.
Cooley led the Eagles with 12 points, and Berkely was right behind him with 11 points. Wooten finished with 9 points, and Bowen followed with 6 points.
Coach Greg High’s Eagles improved to 3-1 in conference play and 6-3 overall.
