ELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen rode a 16-4 second-period blitz to a 52-33 non-conference jayvee boys basketball victory over West Brunswick Monday.
Charles Brown buried a 3-point shot, another basket and a free throw in the opening period, and sophmore Jacob Priest threw in a pair of baskets and a free throw as the Eagles built an 11-8 lead.
Sophmore Zach Meares drilled in a 3-point shot, another basket and a free throw to key the 16-4 East second-period run. Center Rasean McKoy dropped in a pair of baskets, and Brown buried a 3-point shot as the Eagle lead grew to 27-12 at halftime.
Meares pumped in a pair of third-quarter baskets, and Priest and McKoy added a bucket each as East Bladen maintained a 35-22 lead.
Brown delivered a 3-point bomb and another basket in the final period. McKoy and Ahmad Powell contributed a basket and 2 free throws each. Priest tacked on a basket and a free throw.
Brown recorded a double-double of 14 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Priest followed with 12 points and 4 rebounds. Meares posted a double-double of 11 points, 10 steals and 4 rebounds.
McKoy worked the paint for a double-double of 10 points and a team-high 16 rebounds. Makhi Cromartie collected 4 rebounds and 3 steals.
The Eagle jayvees will travel to Red Springs Friday.
