ELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen defeated Pender 54-42 Friday night in Four County Conference jayvee boys basketball action.

Anthony Wooten pumped in 2 baskets and 2 free throws in the first quarter and topped the Eagle scoring with 11 points. Wooten added baskets in the second and third quarters and a free throw in the third.

Freshman Majuan McKoy tossed in 2 baskets in the third quarter and sank a basket and 4 of 4 free throws in the final period to finish with 10 points for East.

Sophmore Pierce Melvin nailed a 3-point shot in the second quarter and made 7 of 8 free throws in the fourth quarter to finish with 10 points for the winners.

Freshman Jordan Robinson drained a 3-point shot in the first quarter and netted a basket and a free throw in the third period to total 6 points in the game.

Sophmore Shy Pone bombed in a 3-point shot and another basket in the second quarter and made a free throw in the fourth period for his 6 points. Freshman Tayshaun Berkely threw in a second quarter basket and hit 3 of 4 free throws in the first half to tally 5 points.

Center Robbie Cooley dropped in a basket and a free throw in the first period and tacked on a free throw in the fourth quarter for his 4 points.

Coach Greg High’s Eagles improved to 6-3 in the league and 11-5 overall and will travel to Heide Trask Saturday for a 1 p.m. game.
