
LAKE WACCAMAW- East Columbus’ O. Marshburn started the overtime with a 3-point play that sparked the Gators to a 7-3 run and a 26-22 non-conference jayvee boys’ basketball victory over West Bladen Monday.
Charles Williams sank 4 free throws, and center Tyleak Baldwin dropped in a basket and a free throw to keep West Bladen within 14-8 entering the final period. Cade Allen rallied the Knights with 3 free throws and a basket in the 4th quarter, and Elijah McCollum threw in a pair of baskets as West tied the game 19-19.
Gavin Elks drained a 3-point shot in the final minute of overtime to pull West Bladen to within 24-22, but East held on for the win.
Allen and McCollum shared scoring honors for the Knights with 5 points each, and Williams added 4 points. Marshburn led East with 6 points.
The two teams will play again next Tuesday at West Bladen.
