
BLADENBORO – Sophomore Darren Wilkins poured in 10 of his game-high 19 points in the 3rd quarter to spark Red Springs to a 17-13 lead and eventual 24-18 Southeastern Athletic Conference jayvee boys’ victory over West Bladen Friday.
Cade Allen and center Tyleak Ballard dropped in baskets, and Charles Williams sank 2 free throws as the Knights built a 6-5 halftime lead. Wilkins scored all 5 1st half points for the Red Devils.
Conner Monroe drained a 3-point shot, and Elijah McCollum and Isaiah Robinson threw in baskets in the 3rd quarter for the Knights, but Wilkins fired in 5 Red Devil baskets in the period then secured the victory by making 4 free throws in the final quarter.
Noah Hall pumped in 2 baskets for West Bladen in the 4th period and led the Knight scoring with those 4 points. Ballard canned a free throw in the final quarter to finish with 3 points, and Monroe also tallied 3 points.
The Knights, now 4-6 in the SAC-7 and 6-11 overall, will host St. Pauls Tuesday.
