DUBLIN – South Columbus defeated West Bladen 40-36 Tuesday night in Three Rivers Conference jayvee boys action.
Ronald Thompson drilled in a 3-point shot, and Jadecus Register and Da’shawn Hines dropped in baskets to keep the Knights within 8-7 at the first quarter break.
Register threw in a trio of baskets to key a 13-10 second quarter West Bladen surge that edged the Knights ahead 20-18 at halftime. Hines pumped in a basket and a free throw, and Nolan Bryant and Donovan Stone tossed in baskets for the Knights in the period.
Bryant and Khalil Lloyd sank 2 free throws each for West Bladen in the third period, but the Stallions rode a 10-4 spurt to a 28-24 lead.
South closed out the game with a 12-6 run. Register dropped in a pair of baskets for West in the final quarter, and Hines and Thompson netted 2 free throws each.
Register led the Knight scoring with 12 points, and Hines followed with 7 points. Stone finished with 6 points.
The Knights will host Red Springs Friday night.
