ELIZABETHTOWN – St. Pauls claimed a 32-27 non-conference jayvee boys basketball victory over East Bladen Tuesday night.
St. Pauls tied the game 24-24 on a free throw with 9 seconds left in regulation. The Eagles jumped back in front as Joshua Wyatt raced for a lay-up off of the jump ball that opened the overtime period.
The Bulldogs scored the next 6 points before a Keshaun Davis fee throw closed the gap to 30-27 with 31 seconds remaining, but a rebound basket sealed the verdict for St. Pauls.
Freshman Majuan McKoy threw in 2 baskets in the first period and 2 more in the final quarter to lead the Eagle scoring with 9 points.
Davis scored in every period and finished with 8 points. Wyatt nailed a 3-point shot in the second quarter and tallied 5 points, while freshman Allen Owens drained a first period 3-point shot.
Coach Greg High’s Eagles are now 1-1 and will host East Columbus Tuesday night.
