West Bladen High School LogoKasson Page threw in 6 of his 13 points to spark a 17-6 second-half surge that propelled West Bladen’s jayvee boys to a 38-24 Four County Conference basketball victory at East Bladen Wednesday night.

Fred Walters and Kasson Page tossed in 4 points each in the opening quarter, and sophomore John Bowen beat the buzzer with a rebound basket to give the Knights a 10-6 lead at the quarter break.

Sophomore Chris McKnight pumped in 5 of his team-high 10 points for East Bladen in the first quarter.

Four points by Demarius McArthur pulled the Eagles to within 14-12, before Brandon Davis nailed a 3-point shot to edge East Bladen ahead at 15-14.

Traquan Smith popped in 4 points, and Kasson Page added 3 as the Knights reeled off seven in a row to go up 21-15. East Bladen’s Demetrius Wooten drilled a long 3-pointer at the buzzer to slice the West lead to 21-18 at halftime.

Kasson Page sparked a 5-0 Knight third period run that stretched the West lead to 26-18. Page connected for 4 points in the quarter.

Walters finished with 6 points for the winners, and Smith followed with 5.

McArthur and Wooten contributed 4 points each to the East Bladen attack.

Coach Taurius Baker’s Knights evened their conference record at 3-3 and improved to 7-5 overall with the win. West Bladen travels to Union Friday night.

East Bladen, now 1-6 in league play and 4-8 overall, will be at Midway Friday night.
