BLADENBORO – West Bladen rallied in the second half to defeat Union 51-44 Friday night in non-conference jayvee boys basketball action. The Knights evened their record at 1-1 with the victory. 

Donavan Stone and Ricky Brisson drained 3-point shots, and Stone, Joshua Lewis and Jadacus Register added baskets as the Knights built a 13-10 first quarter lead.

Union bounced back to take a 23-21 halftime lead. Register and Stone buried 3-point shots to keep the Knights close, and center Lancine Soumahoro dropped in a basket.

Stone drilled in a 3-point shot and tossed in 2 more baskets to key a 10-5 West Bladen run. Soumahoro worked inside for a pair of buckets as the Knights went up 31-28 at the third quarter break. 

Lewis fired in a 3-point basket, another basket and 3 free throws as the Knights rode a 20-16 surge to the victory. Stone and Register threw in baskets, and Brisson sank 3 free throws.

Stone led the Knight scoring with 17 points. Lewis finished with 12 points, and Soumahoro and Register followed with 8 points each. Brisson tallied 6 points.

The Knight jayvees will travel to Fairmont Tuesday for their conference opener.
