BLADENBORO – Thirteen different players scored Wednesday night as West Bladen rolled to a 71-35 non-conference jayvee boys basketball victory over Union.

Javontae Matthews, Walter Bealon and Aaron Thompson nailed 3-point shots in the opening period, and Matthews and Keshawn Ballard scored 2 baskets each as the Knights raced to a 24-5 lead.

Three baskets from Javarie Adams and 2 baskets from Anthony Cowan in the second quarter helped grow the Knight lead to 43-18. Matthews and Adams threw in 2 baskets each in the third period to stretch the lead to 62-24.

Adams headed the Knight scoring list with 14 points. Matthews finished with 9 points, and Cowan totaled 8 points.

Treshawn Taylor poured in 21 points to lead all scorers for Union.

Coach Jason Hemingway’s Knights improved to 2-1 with the victory and will travel to Red Springs Friday.
