BLADENBORO – West Columbus rallied in the second half to pull out a narrow 41-37 Three Rivers Conference jayvee boys basketball victory over West Bladen Friday night.

Javonta Matthews fired in a trio of baskets, and Anthony Cowan added a basket to keep the Knights within 10-9 at the first quarter break.

Josiah Brown threw in a pair of baskets, and Matthews drilled in a 3-point shot as the Knights rallied to take a 20-18 halftime lead. Travail Baldwin and Aaron Thompson netted a basket each in the quarter for West Bladen.

Matthews bombed in another 3-ball, and Baldwin and Keshawn Ballard added baskets in the third quarter, but West Columbus edged ahead 30-28.

Two more baskets from Matthews and baskets from Cowan and Ballard kept the Knights close in the final period.

Matthews racked up 16 points to lead the Knight scoring. Baldwin pumped in 6 points, and Brown finished with 5 points.

West Bladen, now 3-5, will travel to St. Pauls Tuesday.
