ELIZABETHTOWN – Whiteville defeated East Bladen 35-31 Friday night in the Three Rivers Conference jayvee boys basketball opener for both teams.

Corey McKoy drained four 3-point shots to lead the Eagle scoring with 14 points. Teammates Tayshaun Berkeley, Rasean McKoy and Lefrederick Wooten added 4 points each.

The Eagles edged ahead 10-9 in the first quarter as Corey McKoy drilled in a pair of 3-point shots. Berkeley connected from 3-point range in the second quarter, but Whiteville rode an 11-5 run to a 20-15 halftime lead.

Corey McKoy buried two more 3-point shots in the third period as the Eagles rallied to within 24-22. Wooten and Jaquez McKoy bombed in 3-point shots in the final quarter, but Whiteville held on for the win.

William Godwin poured in 20 points to lead the Wolfpack scoring.
