Wilmington Ashley edged visiting East Bladen 51-49 Tuesday night in non-conference jayvee boys basketball action.

The home team built a 32-16 first half lead. Darrell Banks bombed in a pair of 3-point shots plus another basket in the first half for East Bladen, and teammate Messiah Leach drained a 3-pointer and tallied 6 first half points.

Leach pumped in 6 more points in the third period, and Sadique Ingram and Braydon McDowell nailed 3-point shots as East Bladen outscored Ashley 22-7 and trimmed the Screaming Eagle lead to 39-38.

Banks buried two more 3-point shots in the final period, and Ingram threw in another 3-ball, but Ashley held on for the win.

Banks and Leach shared scoring honors for East Bladen with 14 points each, and Ingram followed with 10 points.

St. Pauls 33, East Bladen 19

Friday night the Eagle jayvee boys dropped a 33-19 decision at St. Pauls. Anthony Wooten connected on a pair of 3-point shots and led East Bladen with 8 points.

Leach finished with 6 points, and Banks added a 3-point basket.
