CLINTON – Clinton capitalized on a trio of early fumbles to grab an early 24-0 lead en route to a 24-8 Four County Conference jayvee football victory Monday over East Bladen.

With their regular quarterback missing the game, the Eagles suffered ball-handling problems and finished the game with five fumbles. “Too many fumbles,” said East Bladen Coach Ritchie Priest. “We didn’t play bad. Eric (Chancy) ran for a lot of yards.”

Sophmore Josh McKoy returned the second-half kick-off 80 yards for the East Bladen touchdown. Chancy carried into the end zone for the 2-point conversion.

Later in the half, the Eagles drove 70 yards to the Clinton 5 yardline,but were stopped on downs.

It was the first loss of the season for the Eagle jayvees who are now 4-1 and will host Pender Thursday night at 6:30.
