ELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen suffered a pair of late drive-stopping fumbles Thursday night as the Eagles dropped a 30-22 Three Rivers Conference jayvee football decision to South Columbus in their final game of the season.
Freshman Timothy McLean raced 60 yards for the first Eagle touchdown then ran the 2-point conversion.
With nine seconds left in the first half, freshman Raymond Autry hauled in a 30-yard touchdown pass from sophmore quarterback Dillon Fine. McLean carried into the end zone for another 2-point conversion and a 16-8 lead.
McLean broke loose again and dashed 50 yards for his second touchdown of the game.
The Eagles mounted a pair of scoring threats later in the game, but lost fumbles that ended both drives.
“This team has come a long way since the beginning of the season,” said Eagle Coach Ritchie Priest. “This is probably the most improved team that we have had.”
East Bladen finished 2-4 on the season, but due to opponents folding their teams and the rescheduling caused by Hurricane Florence, the Eagles were able to play only three conference games.
