DUBLIN – Clinton edged West Bladen 48-47 Thursday in a battle for first place in the Four County Conference and snapped the Lady Knight jayvee girls’ 9-game winning streak.

Kwashera Chapman threw in 2 baskets and a free throw in the first quarter, and teammate Lexie Corrothers added 2 baskets to spark the Lady Knights to a 13-10 lead. Kasee Singletary and Anna Moser tossed in a basket each for West in the period.

Sophmore Carley Dawson pumped in 2 baskets and a free throw for the Lady Knights in the second quarter. Chapman put in a basket, and Moser and Corrothers made free throws to keep West within 24-22 at halftime.

Chapman and Singletary rang up 3 points each in the third quarter for West Bladen, and Corrothers pumped in a basket to keep the Lady Knights within 33-31.

Chapman rallied the Lady Knights with 3 baskets and a free throw in the final period. Corrothers connected for a basket and a free throw, and Singletary hit 3 free throws, and Dawson made two foul shots.

The game slipped away at the foulline for the Lady Knights as they made only 15 of 46 free throws.

Coach Joe Lewis’ Lady Knights are now 3-1 in league play and 9-1 overall.
