BLADENBORO – An 8-0 third-quarter spurt carried Fairmont to a 29-17 victory over West Bladen Tuesday in the Three Rivers Conference junior varsity basketball opener for both schools.

The Lady Tornadoes built leads of 6-2 and 14-11, before the 8-0 run expanded their lead to 22-11.
Cassi Humphrey, Makayla Wright and Anniya Phillips scored 4 points each to lead the Lady Knights. Alexus Hinson tossed in a game-high 8 points for Fairmont, and teammate Destiny Melvin added 7 points.
The Lady Knights, now 0-2, will travel to Red Springs on Friday.
