Sophmore Jerena Purdie and freshman Elizabeth Allbright sparked a 16-4 second period spurt that carried West Bladen to a 35-23 Four County Conference jayvee girls’ basketball victory at East Bladen Thursday.

Purdie and Allbright tossed in 6 points each in the quarter as the Lady Knights snapped a 5-5 tie and opened up a 21-9 halftime lead.

Purdie who led all scorers with 16 points tallied 5 more points in the third period to keep the West lead at 28-17.

Allbright scored all 8 of her points in the first half. Teammate Patience Parker finished with 7 points and Mikayla Winebarger added 4 points.

Sophmore Yolanda Coston fired in 6 of her 8 points for East Bladen in the second half. Teammate Danielle McDowell followed with 6 points for the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Eagles finished their season with a 5-5 conference record and an 8-7 overall mark. The victory was West Bladen’s third conference win of the season.
