Sophmore Mikayla Winebarger fired in 15 points to lead West Bladen to a 37-34 Four County Conference jayvee girls basketball victory at East Bladen Thursday.
Coach Joe Lewis’ Lady Knights took the top spot in the Four County Conference with a 7-1 league record. West Bladen posted an 8-5 overall mark.
Coach Megan Kirby’s Lady Eagles handed West Bladen their only league loss earlier in the season and finished with a 3-5 Four County record.
Deija Edwards drained a first period 3-point shot and two more 2-point baskets as the Lady Eagles jumped in front 14-10. Freshman Anna-Kate White tossed in a pair of baskets, and teammate Asia Munn netted a basket and a free throw for East in the quarter.
Winebarger threw in a pair of baskets for West in the first quarter, and Kierra Hines, Nhykila Richardson and Si-Jada Ellison scored one basket each.
Winebarger and Richardson pumped in two baskets each in the second quarter, and Chasitty Lacy, Conner Brisson and Indiyah Williams added a basket each as the Lady Knights rallied to take a 24-19 halftime lead.
White scored all 5 of the Lady Eagle second period points on two baskets and a foul shot.
Winebarger tallied 2 more baskets in the third quarter, and Ellison and Richardson chipped in with a basket each. Richardson also hit a free throw as the Lady Knight lead grew to 33-25.
Edwards, White and Jayme LeeAnn Frady scored one basket each for East Bladen in the third quarter.
Munn rallied the Lady Eagles in the final quarter with two baskets and a free throw, and White and Edwards added a basket each.
Winebarger dropped in a basket and a free throw, and Ellison made a free throw for West in the final period.
Richardson finished with 9 points for West Bladen, and Ellison followed with 5 points. White topped the Lady Eagle scoring with 13 points, and Edwards contributed 11 points. Munn totaled 8 points.
