CLINTON – West Bladen rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat Clinton 41-38 Friday night in Four County Conference jayvee girls action.

The victory avenges the only loss of the season for Coach Joe Lewis’ Lady Knights who improved to 6-1 in league play and 12-1 overall.

The Lady Knights started slowly but Kierra Hines and Carley Dawson threw in baskets to keep West within 9-4 at the first quarter break.

Dawson keyed a 16-9 Lady Knight spurt that vaulted the visitors in front 20-18 at halftime. Dawson fired in 2 baskets and 3 free throws in the quarter, and freshman Kasee Singletary tossed in 2 baskets. Chasity Lacy drained a 3-point shot, and freshman Lexie Corrothers added a basket.

Clinton answered with a 16-12 third period surge to go back on top 34-32. Lacy kept the Lady Knights close by sinking a trio of baskets. Singletary pumped in a pair of baskets, and Dawson knocked down another basket.

Lacy led the West Bladen closing rally with a basket and a free throw. Dawson, Corrothers and Kwashera Chapman connected for baskets in the final period as the Lady Knights outscored Clinton 9-4 to pull out the victory.

West Bladen will host Midway Tuesday at 4 p.m.
