SHALLOTTE – West Brunswick rallied in the second half to defeat East Bladen 29-24 Wednesday in non-conference junior varsity girls basketball action.
Ronkira Lennon nailed a 3-point shot, and Shanell McMillian and Mariah Smith tossed in baskets to keep the Lady Eagles within 8-7 at the first quarter break.
Aaniyah Jackson threw in 2 baskets and a free throw for East in the second quarter, and McMillian and Smith pumped in baskets as the Lady Eagles took a 16-13 halftime lead.
The Lady Trojans bounced back with a 12-5 third-quarter surge to take 25-21 lead. McMillian fired in a basket and a free throw, and Smith netted a basket to keep East close.
McMillian and Smith led the East Bladen scoring with 7 points each. Aaniyah Jackson finished with 5 points.
The Lady Eagles, now 0-2, will travel to South Columbus Friday..
