DUNN – Midway defeated East Bladen 22-8 Thursday in Four County Conference jayvee softball action.

The Lady Eagles pushed across a first-inning run as freshmen Johanna Parker and Lorna Mendell were hit by pitches, and sophmore Anna Kate White walked. Trinity Stephens knocked in Parker with a single.

In the East Bladen second inning, Carleigh Devane was hit by a pitch, and Demerey Britt walked. Parker smashed a double to drive in Devane. Mendell, White and Stephens were all hit by pitches to force home Britt and Parker and trim Midway’s lead to 11-4.

Devane was hit by a pitch, and Britt drew another walk to begin the Lady Eagle third inning. Freshman Abby Cross walked, and Parker was hit by a pitch to force home Devane. Mendell walloped a double that scored Britt, Cross and Parker and sliced the Midway lead to 12-8.

A 7-run Midway third inning widened the gap to 19-8.

Mendell batted 2-2 with a double and 4 runs batted in to lead the East Bladen hitters. Parker slammed a double, scored 3 runs and drove in two. Stephens cracked an rbi single. Devane and Britt scored 2 runs each and Cross scored one run.

Olivia Hollingsworth handled the pitching duties for East Bladen.

The Lady Eagle jayvees will host Pender Thursday at 4 p.m.
