East Bladen High SchoolELIZABETHTOWN – Freshman Jordan Kinlaw pitched a complete game, struck out 11 batters and batted 4-4 to lead East Bladen to a 16-8 Three Rivers Conference jayvee softball victory over Fairmont Tuesday.
Both teams scored single runs in the first inning. Freshman Carlie West reached base on a fielder’s choice, sophmore Lorna Mendell walked, and senior Majesti Corbett was hit by a pitch. Kinlaw drove in West with a single to pull the Lady Eagles into a 1-1 tie.
Fairmont edged ahead 2-1 in the second, before the Lady Eagles exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the second. Alyann Gregg, Lexie Guy, Nesiah Davis-McKoy, West, Lila McDuffie all drew walks and scored runs in the inning. Gregg walked twice and scored twice.
Grey Guy, Corbett and Kinlaw belted singles and scored runs in the second inning.
In the East Bladen third, Corbett, Kinlaw and Grey Guy smacked singles and scored runs. McDuffie reached base on a fielder’s choice and scored, and Gregg walked and scored again as the lead grew to 15-2.
Fairmont sliced the lead to 15-7 with a 5-run fourth, but Mendell singled in the East Bladen fourth and raced home when Kinlaw laced a single. Kinlaw finished with 2 runs scored and 4 runs batted in.
Corbett batted 2-2 and scored twice for East Bladen. Grey Guy finished 2-3 at the plate and scored twice. Lexie Guy, West, and Mendell added one hit each. Gregg scored 3 runs. West and McDuffie scored 2 runs each. Lexie Guy, Davis-McKoy and Mendell scored one run each.
East Bladen will travel to St. Pauls Friday.
