BURGAW – Pender defeated East Bladen 11-5 Friday in Four County Conference jayvee softball action.
The Lady Eagles jumped in front with a pair of first inning runs. Sophmore Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson reached base on an error and advanced on a passed ball.
Freshman Izzy Smith knocked in Moore-Peterson with a single, advanced on a passed ball and eventually scored the second run.
Pender answered with 11 runs in the bottom of the first inning.
The Lady Eagles scored 3 more runs in the third inning. Freshman Johanna Parker singled and stole second base.
Moore-Peterson belted a single that scored Parker, and Smith hammered a triple that drove in Moore-Peterson. Smith scored the final East Bladen run.
Smith batted 2-2 with the triple, 2 runs scored and 2 runs batted in. Moore-Peterson and Parker had one hit each. Moore-Peterson scored 2 runs and drove one in. Parker also scored a run.
Sophmore Olivia Hollingsworth pitched for East Bladen.
