BLADENBORO – Freshman Marlene Crabtree pitched a 1-hitter and struck out 5 batters as West Bladen defeated Fairmont 15-2 in Southeastern Athletic Conference jayvee softball action. Crabtree hit 4 batters and walked 2. Both Fairmont runs were unearned.
The Lady Knights exploded for 9 runs in the 1st inning and added 6 more runs in the 2nd inning. Sophomore Marlie Walters walloped a lead-off triple in the 1st inning, walked, scored 3 runs and drove in a run. Crabtree smacked a 2-run single in the 2nd inning, walked and scored twice.
Violet Allen slammed a double, walked twice and scored 2 runs for West. Shelby Burns beat out a bunt single and scored a run in the 2nd inning. Freshman Holland Davis walked 3 times and scored 2 runs. Sophomore Megan Pait walked twice and scored a run.
Ayanna Jones walked twice and scored 2 runs, and Alina Chavez walked, was hit by a pitch and scored twice. Laci Buffkin also walked.
Coach Joe Lewis’ Lady Knights improved to 2-0 in SAC-7 play and 3-0 overall.
