BLADENBORO – West Bladen exploded for ten 1st inning runs and rolled to a 22-0 Three Rivers Conference jayvee softball victory over Red Springs Wednesday.
Freshman Gracie Faircloth pitched a 4-hit shutout, walked none and struck out 5 to earn the pitching win for the Lady Knights.
The West Bladen offense capitalized on 18 walks, 5 hit batters, 4 hits and 2 errors to score their 22 runs. Leadoff batter Megan Pait walked 4 times and scored 4 runs. Josie Troublefield walked 3 times and scored 3 runs. Olivia Allen walked twice, was hit by a pitch and scored 3 runs.
Kaitlyn Brisson belted a 2-run single, walked twice, was hit by a pitch and scored twice. Violet Allen walked twice, was hit by a pitch and scored 3 runs. Hannah Richardson walked, was hit by a pitch and scored twice.
Faircloth smacked a 2-run single, walked, was hit by a pitch and scored a run. Briley Stanley knocked in a run with a single, walked twice and scored 3 runs. Hailey Guyton singled, walked, was hit by a pitch and scored a run.
Guyton singled during West Bladen’s 10-run 1st inning. Stanley smashed a run-scoring single during the Lady Knights’ 6-run 3rd inning. Brisson and Faircloth slammed 2-run singles later in the inning.
Coach Joe Lewis’ Lady Knights improved to 2-0 in TRC play and 4-2 overall. West Bladen’s jayvees will host East Columbus Thursday at 4 p.m.
