BLADENBORO – Hailey Guyton’s sacrifice bunt scored Taylor West with the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning as West Bladen edged St. Pauls 8-7 in Three Rivers Conference jayvee softball action.

St. Pauls took a 7-6 lead into the home half of the sixth, but Madison Walters reached base on an error then stole second base. West laced a single to left that drove in Walters with the tying run. After West stole third base, Guyton laid down the bunt that brought her home.

Walters, West, Guyton, Armani Cowan, Amelia Brisson, Briley Stanley, Kayla Norris and Kaylee Page connected for one hit each for the Lady Knights. Walters and West drove in 2 runs each. Guyton, Ryleigh Bailey and Page had one rbi each. Bailey scored 2 runs, and Walters, West, Cowan, Brisson, Stanley, and Kylee Ward scored one run each.

After St. Pauls took an early 1-0 lead, Brisson and Stanley beat out infield hits in the Lady Knight second inning. Taylor Lewis and Bailey reached base on fielder’s choices that retired Brisson and Lewis. Page walked, before Walters knocked in Stanley and Bailey with a single to centerfield that put West Bladen up 2-1.

St. Pauls went up 4-2 in the top of the third, but West Bladen answered with 4 runs in the home half of the third. Cowan lined a single off the pitcher, Brisson walked, and Ward reached base on a passed third strike.

Bailey reached base on an error as Cowan and Brisson scored. Page slammed a 2-run single to right-centerfield that drove in Ward and Bailey for a 6-4 Lady Knight lead.

St. Pauls scored single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth inning to edge back in front 7-6.

West struck out 8 batters and allowed 7 runs on 4 hits and 5 walks to pick up the pitching victory.

The Lady Knights will travel to South Columbus Friday.
