ELIZABETHTOWN – Junior Cybil Campbell and sophmore Cheyanne Merritt combined for 31 service points Tuesday to lead East Bladen to a 2-0 non-conference jayvee volleyball victory over Hobbton by set scores of 25-16 and 25-3.

Campbell fired in seven consecutive service points to vault the Lady Eagles to a 9-4 lead in the first set. A pair of service points from freshman Alexis Mitchell kept East Bladen ahead at 14-10.

Junior Lila McDuffie reeled off five straight service points as the East lead grew to 21-12. Hobbton pulled to within 22-16 before Campbell served out the set with a pair of service points.

With the score knotted at 2-2, Campbell broke the set open with ten consecutive service points. After an exchange of side-outs, Merritt served out the match with eleven straight service points.

Campbell led all servers with 19 service points. Merritt followed with 12 service points. McDuffie finished with 5 service points, and Mitchell tallied 2 service points.

Coach Shannon Ross’ Lady Eagles, now 1-0, will host Whiteville Thursday at 4:30.
