ELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen swept Red Springs 2-0 Thursday in Three Rivers Conference jayvee volleyball action by set scores of 25-12 and 26-24.
Sophomore Cheyanne Merritt reeled off 6 consecutive service points in the first set to give the Lady Eagles a 13-4 lead. Merritt later served out the set with two more service points. Junior Adrienne Howell contributed 5 service points to the East Bladen attack in the first set.
Sophomore Katie Evans fired in 4 straight service points to vault the Lady Eagles ahead 18-16 in the second set. Two service points from freshman Alexis Mitchell kept East on top at 22-20. Howell served out the match with two service points.
Merritt led the Lady Eagles with 9 service points, and Howell finished with 7 service points. Junior teammate Lila McDuffie followed with 6 service points.
Mitchell totaled 4 service points in the match, and junior Cybil Campbell and sophmore Cheylee Mathis added 2 service points each. Junior Shanell McMillian collected one service point.
It was the second win of the season for Coach Shannon Ross’ Lady Eagle jayvees who will travel to West Columbus Tuesday.
