ST. PAULS – East Bladen defeated St. Pauls 2-0 Thursday in Three Rivers Conference jayvee volleyball action by set scores of 30-28 and 25-10.

Junior Shanell McMillian knocked in a trio of service points to vault the Lady Eagles in front 4-1 early in the first set. A 15-5 surge rallied the Lady Bulldogs into a 16-9 lead.

McMillian rallied East with a trio of service points, and sophmore Cheyanne Merritt and freshman Merritt Martin added 2 service points each to close the gap to 23-20.

Sophmore Cheylee Mathis, junior Adrienne Howell, sophmore Alyssa Futrell, and Merritt won one service point each, before Martin served out the set at 30-28.

McMillian opened the second set with 6 straight service points. Futrell reeled off 6 straight service points as the East lead grew to 14-1. Martin pushed the lead to 22-3 with 5 straight service points, and East Bladen closed out the match at 25-10.

McMillian led the Lady Eagles with 12 service points, 3 aces and a kill. Mathis hammered in 11 kills, a service point and had 2 digs. Futrell slammed in 6 kills, 7 service points, 3 blocks and had a dig.

Howell racked up 7 service points, an ace and a dig. Martin finished with 7 service points and 2 aces. Merritt tallied 4 service points and an ace.

The Lady Eagles will host rival West Bladen Monday at 4:30.
