ELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen defeated West Bladen 2-0 Monday in Three Rivers Conference jayvee volleyball action by set scores of 25-10 and 25-12.

Sophomore Cheylee Mathis gave East Bladen an early 4-1 lead in Set One with a trio of service points. Junior Shanell McMillian delivered 3 more service points that pushed the lead to 9-5.

Sophomore Alyssa Futrell reeled off 7 straight service points that opened up a 17-6 Lady Eagle lead. A pair of service points from freshman Merritt Martin stretched the lead to 21-8. Junior Adrienne Howell served out the set with a pair of service points.

Howell started the second set with 4 consecutive service points, and sophomore Cheyanne Merritt knocked in 8 straight service points that padded the Lady Eagle lead to 15-4. A pair of service points from Mathis kept the margin at 19-8, before McMillian tallied a trio of service points that put East up 24-11.

Merritt led the Lady Eagle servers with 8 service points, 4 aces and had one dig. Futrell slammed in 4 kills, 4 aces and 7 service points. Mathis hammered in a team-high 6 kills, 2 aces, 5 service points and had one dig.

McMillian racked up 6 service points and 3 kills for East. Howell fired in 6 service points and an ace, and Martin added 2 service points.

East Bladen will host East Columbus Tuesday at 4:30, while West Bladen will travel to St. Pauls.
