East Bladen High SchoolELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen defeated West Bladen 2-1 Tuesday in Three Rivers Conference jayvee volleyball action by set scores of 25-19, 12-25 and 15-9.

Freshman Cheylee Mathis reeled off 5 straight service points in the decisive third set to propel the Lady Eagles to an 11-7 lead, and East Bladen held on for the victory.

Freshman Kayleigh Raynor sparked the Lady Eagles to the first set victory with a run of 8 consecutive service points that produced a 15-8 lead. A trio of service points from freshman Alyssa Futrell kept East ahead at 22-16, and a sophmore Abbie Cross served out the set.

Sophmore Jordan Benson started the second set with 4 straight service points to put West Bladen up 5-0. A pair of service points from freshman Khadijah Jones stretched the Lady Knight lead to 11-2. Jones later served out the set with four consecutive service points.

Raynor led the Lady Eagles with 8 service points, and Futrell followed with 6 service points. Mathis finished with 5 service points, and Cross totaled 4 service points. Sara Gargala added 2 service points, and freshman Katie Evans tallied one service point.

Jones hammered in 7 kills, 7 aces and 5 service points to lead the Lady Knights. Benson knocked in 4 aces, a kill and 4 service points. Pharr slammed in 4 kills.

Freshman Taylor West smacked in 2 kills and a service point for West Bladen. Alana King contributed 2 service points and an ace. Madison Cain belted in a kill and a service point, and Indra Rodriquez, Cheyenne Lewis and Erica Storms added one kill each.

“I am really proud of these girls,” said West Bladen Coach Gaye Davis. “They all worked very hard and in my opinion had a very successful season.  I am looking forward to next year.”
