CERRO GORDO – Kylie Durden fired in 12 service points Thursday to lead West Bladen to a 2-0 Three Rivers Conference junior varsity volleyball victory over West Columbus by set scores of 25-16 and 25-8.

 

Durden smashed in 8 aces and 4 other service points. Teammate Madilyn Walters drilled in 5 aces and another service point. Sophia Masaid hammered in 3 aces and 3 other service points.

 

Kaitlyn Brisson knocked in 4 service points for the winners. Shanyla Hunter finished with 2 service points and an ace, and Jenna McLean contributed an ace and another service point.

 

The Lady Vikings built early leads of 11-6 and 13-8 in the opening set, before a trio of Masaid service points closed the gap to 14-12. Walters then vaulted the Lady Knights in front 19-15 with 6 straight service points that included 5 aces. Durden blasted in a trio of aces and another service point as the lead grew to 24-16. A side-out ended the set.

 

Durden pounded in 4 aces and 2 more service points for an early 8-2 Lady Knight lead in Set 2. Brisson grew the lead to 12-3 with a trio of service points. Masaid slammed in a trio of aces as the lead grew to 21-6, before Brisson served out the match.

 

Coach Kaitlyn Sykes’ Lady Knights improved to 2-3 in league play and 4-4 overall.
