ALEXANDRIA, La. — Clarkton native Kayla Thompson shot a third-round 72 Friday in the third round of the Coke-Dr. Pepper Open. She moved into a tie for 28th in the Women’s All Pro Tournament and qualified for Saturday’s final round.

Thompson has shot 75-73-72=220 in the tournament. The final round will be played on the 6,328-yard Oak Wing course.

Thompson graduated from West Bladen High School and UNC Wilmington.

Maddie McCrary of Wylie, Texas, shot 71 Friday and has a four-shot led over Jessica Porvasnik of Hinckley, Ohio, going into the final 18 holes.

The tournament winner will receive $7,500 from the $40,000 purse and an exemption into the Windsor Classic on the Symetra Tour later this year.
