Bladen County’s Kayla Thompson missed the cut this week in her first tournament of the Women’s All Pro Tour season.

Thompson, playing in the L’Auberge Lake Championship in Lake Charles, Louisiana, shot 75-75=150 to miss the cut of 145 by five strokes on the par-71, 6,345-yard Contraband Bayou Golf Club layout. Thompson birdied a par-5 hole in each round, making a four on the 487-yard No. 6 in the first round and a four on the 500-yard No. 10 in the second round.

Elodie Chapelet of Waco, Texas, leads at the halfway point of the tournament with consecutive 66s for a 10-under 132 total. Virunpat Olankitkunchai of Thailand is four shots back at 6-under. The tournament ends Saturday.

Thompson resides in Clarkton and is a graduate of West Bladen High School and UNC Wilmington.
