Bladen County’s Kayla Thompson fired a final round of 65 to take fourth place in the National Women’s Golf Association tournament completed Thursday at Crane Lake’s Golf Course in Port Orange, Florida.

Thompson, a West Bladen High School graduate, shot 68-67-65=200, which was 7 strokes behind tournament winner Claudia Wong, who earned $2,000. Thompson received $500 for her fourth place finish.

In the final round, Thompson shot 35-30=65 on the par 66 track. She had 10 pars, five birdies, two bogeys and a double-bogey.

Thompson is scheduled to play March 11-14 in the Coke-Dr. Pepper Open on the Women’s All Pro Tour at OakWing Golf Course in Alexandria, La.
